Gone are the days of having to haul around stacks of index cards, which typically end up scattered throughout the hallways or crumpled up in the bottom of book bags and lockers. To be honest, having my students make their own flashcards, always took more time for them to cut out and create than they actually spent studying! | |
Now, thanks to StudyBlue, studying can happen anywhere, anytime: at home, in a restaurant, or even on the bus to an away game. Any place can quickly be turned into a study hall!
StudyBlue is a free digital tool that allows teachers and students to create mobile flashcards, which are easily accessed both online and on mobile devices. Students can study directly from their home computer (via www.studyblue.com) and/or on their mobile devices by downloading the free StudyBlue app from either iTunes (iOS devices) or Google Play (Android devices).
By digitalizing one of the most effective study strategies, StudyBlue provides students their own digital backpack where they can create, store, study, share, and master course content. It’s capable of increasing a student’s retention skills by creating cards with text, images, and audio to help reinforce the information taught in class.
Your students will be drawn to StudyBlue because it helps them to space their learning out over time. It also allows for a self-directed, customized study experience, where they can gauge the progress of their own learning.
StudyBlue has always been one of my favorite online flashcard services, and it quickly becomes a hit with my students as well.
Do you think your students can benefit from StudyBlue? Tell them about it. They’ll run with it, and you’ll be impressed with how well they are engaged and master course content.
